Gerry Wilenski– The newest member of eXtreem cheer! He started his competitive gymnastics career in the 70’s. An East-coaster originally, Gerry inspired what once was a men’s gymnastics club in the Boston area to turn competitive, and single handedly created the now very successful and thriving Northeastern University Men’s Gymnastics Team. Shortly thereafter Gerry migrated to the West coast. Gerry spent 8 years as director at “LE CLUB” in California working with over 1000 gymnastics hopefuls. In 1986 & 1987 Gerry worked alongside Mark Young who trained 1996 US Olympic Gold Medalist “DREAM TEAM” member, Amy Chow. Most recently Gerry hails from ALL OLYMPIC GYMNASTICS CENTER (A.O.G.C) in L.A. where he worked under the direction of Galina Marinova, AOGC Director and Head Coach AND two-time Olympian and four-time World Champion. While working at A.O.G.C Gerry was able to train and work with the likes of many former and current Elite level Nationally and Internationally ranked gymnasts, such as Mohini Bhardwaj, silver medalist at the 2004 Olympics, Mattie Larson, 2008 Senior National Team member and Olympic hopeful, and Samantha Shapiro, 2008 Junior National Team member. Gerry also spent some time working with the great Arthur Acopian a former Olympian and World Champion, now a US woman’s team coach. Gerry has two daughters he is very proud of, Katie who is a designer in New York and Samantha who will be traveling to Denver this Fall to work toward her Master’s Degree. Gerry has over 20 years experience coaching gymnasts of all levels and is eXtreemly excited to take on this most recent challenge of working and perfecting tumbling for cheerleading. He is new to this sport, but has taken a liking to the discipline, strength and athleticism cheerleading requires. Gerry brings a wealth of knowledge, technique, drills, skills, patience and understanding to eXtreem cheer. He is teaching classes and is also available for private lessons. Gerry has his U.S.G.F (United States Gymnastics Federation) certificate as well as a certification in safety. Contact the gym for details or to sign up with Gerry! 603-329-6688
